Ø Describe your ideal Instructor/Professor.
I don't really have an "ideal" professor. I think that a professor should be able to teach his/or her subject in a way that is best fitting for the material. In anatomy, for example, Prof. Froiland reads off all of the information for us to take notes on. This method would not be as productive if it was in a math class where you need to see it on the board. I don't really like the thought of an ideal professor because I think you need some variety in your professors in order to suceed. It would be incredibly boring if we sat in class everyday with a professor just like Froiland.
Ø “I knew it when I studied it, but I forgot it on the test.” How can students study differently to prevent this from happening?
You can't just use one study method. If you study just by trying to memorize what's on the paper everytime, chances are you won't get everything crammed in there. You need to switch it up. Do some flash cards, have someone quiz you, write and re-write the material, or something else.
Ø How do you study for quizzes/tests?
I really like the Cornell note taking method. I like changing up my study method everytime I study or I change my study environment.
Ø What do you have trouble with on quizzes/tests?
I'm not an essay person. I HATE THEM. I just have a hard time putting what I'm thinking down on paper.
Reaction to Mcdonald's letter:
I think that the girl seems a little over the top. I completely believe that she gets treated that way but she needs to realize that it's a job that she chose. You can't expect much out of an unqualified job. She should quit if it's too much on her. Someone has to do it. McDonald's has to have someone working for them because of their high demand. I don't have any sympathy for the girl and it may be a different reaction than anyone else's but it just seems stupid to me. If you don't like the job you signed up for, quit. You can't expect much better from McDonald's.

You're right about the McD's situation, workers can always quit. There are many more fast food places that are always hiring. I just wanted you guys to "hear" a rant about the working conditions.
I like your point about having a variety of Instructors. So true! Life would be boring if they were all like Froiland (or me!). And I think different subjects call for different types of Instructors.
I'm impressed that you enjoy Cornell Notes. I think you're the only student who has ever told me that ;) Good for you - I hope you continue to use them after I cease requiring them. They really are an effective study tool, especially for Health Field majors.

I know what you mean about the essay questions. I am also horrible at answering them. Like you said, I just can't put what I am thinking on paper.
For essay questions, maybe draw an outline of key points on the test or draw diagrams of what info you want to relay. Organization helps the info to flow. Wow, and I sound like a fortune cookie he he he.
